CMS Publishes MDS 3.0 Final Report

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has published Development & Validation of a Revised Nursing Home Assessment Tool: MDS 3.0, a project report prepared by RAND Corporation. The report contains a comprehensive overview of MDS, development goals and evaluation criteria, structure of the project, discussion of stakeholder and expert feedback, testing, results of the national trials, and using MDS 3.0 in the Resource Utilization Groups (RUGs) and for quality indicators and quality measures. CMS anticipates that the MDS 2.0/3.0 crosswalk will be available by around the first of August.
