NH Administrator Regulations Amended
VHCA (8/15/2008)
The Board of Long Term Care Administrators regulations governing the practice of nursing home administrators effective July 24, 2008 eliminated the state licensure exam. In lieu of the state exam, the Board now requires an applicant to attest that he has read, understands and will remain current with applicable Virginia laws and regulations relating to the administration of nursing homes. Applicants for licensure are required to take the national examination. The amended regulations also increased the number of internet or self-study courses that may be obtained for continuing education. This increase went from 5 hours to up to 10 of the required 20 hours of continuing education that may be obtained through internet or self-study courses. VHCA contains a list on on-line programs available for NAB approved continuing education credit on the VHCA website.
