
DMAS Announces Training Sessions

The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) will be conducting seminars for Pre-Admission Screeners and Nursing Facility staff. Training sessions will be conducted in Richmond, Fairfax, Bedford, Abingdon and Virginia Beach beginning October 6th. In order to facilitate questions regarding the admission process, DMAS has combined the annual training into a joint session. This training is recommended for pre-admission screeners, nursing facility staff responsible for patient assessments, service compliance, patient eligibility verification, billing and claims follow-up. Topics to be discussed include: - Pre-Admission Screening and Nursing Facility Admission Process

- Money Follows the Person Initiative
- Medicaid Eligibility Verification Options and Billing on the CMS-1450 (UB-04)
Information on the seminar sites, dates and times is available on the DMAS website. DMAS will be accepting online registrations for these seminars. In order to ensure prompt registration, DMAS strongly recommends that interested individuals utilize the online registration process. Online Medicaid training registration information can be accessed on the DMAS website. Click Upcoming Training Events and Select Online Registration, use SESSION ID 808. There is limited space available and registrations will be handled on a first come, first served basis. The completed registration must be received in DMAS offices five (5) business days prior to the scheduled session. Individuals will be contacted only if DMAS is unable to accommodate specific registration requests.
