DSS TO REVIEW REGULATIONS

According to staff  in the Division of Licensing at the Department of Social Services, the agency plans to start the comprehensive review of the ALF regulations in the Fall.  At first, this will involve working with the ALF Advisory Committee to discuss ideas and review draft proposed language for revised regulations.  The formal process will not begin until later in the year.  The VCAL Committee will be involved in making recommendations to the Department of Social Services (DSS) regarding the comprehensive review.  In addition, the State Board of Social Services has announced an intention to amend regulations related to the Auxiliary Grants Program to clarify reimbursement procedures and issues related to the oversight of residents funds by an ALF.  The term adult care residence will be replaced with assisted living facility throughout the standards related to the levels of care and rate setting regulations.
