VCALs 2005 Assisted Living Symposium will be held June 20th at the Sheraton Park South Hotel in Richmond.  Designed specifically for assisted living providers, key staff, owners and developers of facilities, the program, Achieving Excellence in Assisted Livinga checklist for success, will focus on surveys, regulatory compliance, risk assessment and medication administration in assisted living.  A session will describe changes in the law passed by the 2005 General Assembly resulting in a regulatory overhaul of Virginias assisted living profession.  Included in the program will be a focus on key health and safety standards, criteria for citing violations and examples of survey deficiencies, all presented by staff of the Department of Social Services Licensing Division and Licensing Inspectors from three regions of the state.  An additional feature of the Symposium will be a presentation on the appropriate use of anti-psychotic drugs in long term care delivered by a practicing pharmacist.  For more information and registration information go to www.vhca.org/062005event.htm.
