Board of Pharmacy to Review Regulations

The Board of Pharmacy has announced a meeting on May 15, 2006 to conduct a period review of their regulations.  The meeting will be divided into  morning and afternoon sessions as follows: 

9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.- Retail Pharmacy, Records, Licensing of Pharmacists and Technicians, etc. 

1:00 p.m.- 5 :00 p.m.- Hospitals, EMS, Long Term Care, Correctional Facilities, etc.  

VCAL staff has talked with the Executive Director of the Board of Pharmacy about our members concerns related to the regulation that prohibits Stat and Emergency boxes in assisted living facilities.  This issue will be addressed as part of the regulation review and we have learned that representatives from long term care pharmacies will be part of the group evaluating the current regulations.  The meeting will be held at the Department of Health Professions, 6603 West Broad Street, 5th Floor, Conference Room 1, Richmond, Virginia, 23230.
