Smart Preparation for Safety and Peace of Mind

The Assisted Living Facility Disaster Preparedness Guide has been developed as a reference tool for assisted living facilities in their development and implementation of a disaster procedure manual and an emergency operations plan.  Assisted living facilities differ greatly in their location, population, and structure, so no single emergency management plan can be developed to fit all facilities. This guide, however, seeks to provide the framework for the building of an individualized, comprehensive facility plan.  Through proper instruction, preparation, and training of facility personnel in life safety, fire prevention, and disaster preparedness, the lives of the residents and co-workers may be saved and physical damage limited.  Frequent drills and training will provide staff with a familiarity of emergency duties and actions to be taken. Disaster preparedness instructions are presented by different disaster types with guidance for the inclusion of the specific state’s requirements by facility.  The guide is priced at $75 for NCAL/VCAL members.  For more information on on-line orders go to www.ncalpublications.org or order by phone at 800.321.0343.
